Minister Javed Ahmed Rana reviews development and inaugurates flood protection works

Javed Ahmed Rana, the Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology and Environment, and Tribal Affairs, has conducted reviews and inaugurations of key infrastructure and development projects in Jammu and Kashmir.

In Poonch, Rana reviewed the progress of various developmental schemes, including the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), Tribal Plan, and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA). He emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination, effective fund utilization, and the timely completion of projects to improve grassroots infrastructure, particularly in remote and border areas.

In Jammu, the Minister inaugurated flood protection works valued at ₹5.91 crore along the Nikki Tawi and Waddi Tawi rivers. Funded through the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme and NABARD, these projects aim to mitigate riverbank erosion and reduce flood risks caused by erratic weather patterns. Rana highlighted the necessity of climate-resilient infrastructure to protect habitations, agricultural land, and public assets from increasing natural disaster risks.
