Minister Karremans seeks to accelerate Roosteren bridge investigation

Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management Vincent Karremans is looking into ways to accelerate technical investigations regarding the structural state of the bridge in Roosteren. The bridge has been closed to freight traffic, buses, and tractors since December due to construction concerns.

Karremans stated that the investigations follow a phased approach involving inspections and calculations. While visual inspections were scheduled for July, the minister is assessing whether the process can be optimized within the constraints of thoroughness and available capacity. The bridge has already seen incidents involving height portals after drivers ignored previous restrictions.
