Minister Mohammad Aminur Rashid criticizes Cumilla Medical College Hospital sanitation

Bangladesh Agriculture Minister Mohammad Aminur Rashid expressed strong dissatisfaction regarding the poor sanitary conditions at Cumilla Medical College Hospital during a visit on Tuesday. Upon observing unclean toilets and stained tiles, the Minister, who also serves as the chairman of the hospital's management committee, challenged the hospital administration to provide cleaning supplies.

In a video circulating on social media, the Minister is heard telling the acting director, ‘Bring the sweeper and Harpic, I will clean it. If I can do it, then I will ask you why you could not.’ He noted that approximately 40 to 60 percent of the hospital's toilets were unusable or in a state of disrepair, with several bathrooms found closed.

In addition to sanitation issues, the Minister directed officials to repair broken electric fans and ensure better facilities for patients and their families. Following the inspection, seven sub-committees were formed to improve hospital management, including committees for cleanliness, administrative discipline, pharmacy control, and food services.
