Minister Mukhtar al-Yafie links southern Yemen security to unified military fronts

Mukhtar al-Yafie, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, has stated that the security and stability of southern Yemen are inextricably linked to the military and security developments in surrounding provinces. He emphasized that securing the south is impossible without lifting the siege on Taiz and unifying military fronts to confront the Houthi militia.

Al-Yafie argued that treating different military fronts as isolated arenas is a strategic error due to the interconnectedness of geography and security threats. He noted that securing areas such as Aden, Lahj, and Bab al-Mandab depends on addressing threats in Taiz, while the stability of Abyan and Shabwah requires confronting dangers in Al Bayda. Furthermore, he linked the security of Hadramaut and Al Mahrah to the situation in Marib.

The Minister called for a unified political and military vision to coordinate efforts, protect civilians, and restore state institutions. He warned that failing to address threats in one area leads to higher political, military, and humanitarian costs as instability spreads, ultimately threatening the security of Yemen and international maritime navigation.
