Minister Musawa pledges to preserve legacy of actor Tumbuleke
Hannatu Musa Musawa, Nigeria’s Minister of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, has pledged to document and preserve the artistic legacy of veteran Hausa actor Mohammed Sani, widely known as Tumbuleke.
Musawa visited the actor’s family in Kaduna to offer condolences following his death on August 11, 2026, at the age of 86. Describing his passing as a significant loss to the nation’s creative industry, the minister highlighted Tumbuleke’s decades of contribution to Hausa comedy and television, particularly through his work with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) during the 1980s.
The minister stated that the Federal Government would explore methods to ensure his work is preserved for future generations. While time constraints prevented a full discussion during the visit, Musawa committed to further meetings with the family to finalize plans for documenting his enduring impact on indigenous entertainment.
