Konya Science Festival opens with focus on national technology

The 11th Konya Science Festival has commenced, organized by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality. Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi attended the opening, emphasizing Turkey’s technological transformation and the ‘National Technology Move.’ He highlighted the country's shift from importing to developing domestic technologies, including unmanned aerial vehicles, helicopters, radars, and missile systems.

Çiftçi stressed the importance of raising a generation of scientists and engineers who possess both technical expertise and moral values to build the ‘Century of Türkiye.’ The festival, held across a 100,000-square-meter area, features over 200 scientific activities covering fields such as astronomy, physics, biology, and engineering. Major domestic defense and technology institutions, including ASELSAN, TUSAŞ, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, and BAYKAR, are participating to engage with the youth.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay noted that the festival has become a brand event for the city, aiming to increase interest in science and discovery among children and young people. The event includes various demonstrations, such as drone shows and flight performances, and is scheduled to run through August 23.
