Minister Nirmal Kumar challenges M. K. Stalin’s MISA arrest claims

Minister Nirmal Kumar has challenged the claims regarding M. K. Stalin’s arrest under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA), stating that no clear evidence, such as a detention order, has been provided to support the narrative of his arrest under that specific law.

Speaking to reporters in Madurai, Kumar noted that while all individuals arrested under MISA are issued a detention order, no such document has been produced for Stalin. He criticized the DMK for relying on newspaper clippings, books, or commission reports rather than official legal documentation. He further addressed allegations that evidence was destroyed after the DMK came to power in 1989.

Additionally, Kumar commented on upcoming by-elections, specifically criticizing the DMK’s candidate for the Madurantakam constituency, Bharathaman. He claimed the candidate lacks local presence and suggested the party is positioning itself to blame the selection of an outsider if the party fails to secure sufficient deposits during the elections.
