Minister Papastergiou criticizes Thessaly Governor Kouretas

Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou has launched a sharp verbal attack against the Regional Governor of Thessaly, Dimitris Kouretas, following a meeting regarding the creation of an Integrated Spatial Investment (ISI) in the mountainous areas of Trikala.

Papastergiou criticized the Governor for not inviting him to the meeting, noting he was only notified twenty minutes after it had already commenced. The Minister expressed skepticism regarding the feasibility and funding of the proposed project, questioning the existence of the reported 20 million euros required for implementation.

In a heated statement, Papastergiou urged Kouretas to “get off whatever he is riding, whether it is a bicycle or anything else,” suggesting that the Governor should focus on delivering tangible projects rather than political rhetoric. He further emphasized that public works belong to the Greek people rather than regional leadership.
