Minister Pelpuo defends 24-hour economy over Agenda 111 projects

Ghanaian Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, has rejected demands for the government to prioritize the completion of abandoned Agenda 111 hospital projects over the development of 24-hour economy markets.

Dr. Pelpuo argued that the administration must balance finishing inherited projects with fulfilling its own campaign promises. He attributed the stalled state of several Agenda 111 facilities to corruption, illegal practices, and mismanagement under the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

Addressing public pressure regarding the unfinished hospitals, the Minister questioned why the current government is being criticized after only 15 months in office, noting that the previous administration failed to complete projects like the Afari Military Hospital during its eight-year tenure. He maintained that the 24-hour economy markets are essential to stimulating economic activity and creating employment.
