Minister Pemmy Majodina involved in verbal altercation in Kouga

South African Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina was involved in a heated verbal altercation with a community member during a public event in Kouga on September 9. The incident occurred during the launch of an upgraded pump station, which was intended to transition into a government community engagement session.

During a question-and-answer segment, a resident was requested to leave the hall. As the individual was being escorted out, a profanity was directed at the Minister. Majodina reportedly responded with similar profanities, leading to a chaotic scene that left attendees in shock.

Kyle Minnaar, an administrator for the Kouga Municipality, expressed disappointment regarding the Minister's conduct. While acknowledging that the resident may have acted inappropriately by speaking out of turn, Minnaar stated that such behavior did not justify the Minister's hostile response, noting that her actions showed disrespect to the entire community.
