Minister Ponnam Prabhakar launches Uppal bus terminal project

Telangana Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has laid the foundation stone for a new modern bus terminal in Uppal. The project, estimated to cost Rs. 3.22 crore with support from the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation, is expected to be completed within 100 days.

The terminal is designed to serve approximately one lakh passengers daily through roughly 1,053 bus trips. It will feature modern amenities, including an information center and a dedicated bus pass counter, improving connectivity for residents of Uppal, Boduppal, Peerzadiguda, Ghatkesar, Malkajgiri, and Ramanthapur to major hubs like Secunderabad and the IT corridor.

During the event, the minister also discussed the government's free bus travel scheme for women, noting that 367 crore journeys have been recorded. Additionally, the government is working to introduce approximately 2,200 electric buses in Hyderabad under the PM E-DRIVE scheme and is addressing pending dues for RTC employees.
