Minister Romina Pourmokhtari Accuses Social Democrats of Election Sabotage
Sweden's climate and environment minister Romina Pourmokhtari publicly alleged that staff linked to the Social Democratic Party and the AIP Media group infiltrated Liberal Party campaign events during the 2026 election run‑up. She claimed they posed as ordinary voters, covertly filmed and photographed Liberal officials' mobile phones to access internal chat communications, saying, "S‑medarbetare ... smygfilmar och fotar deras mobiltelefoner". Pourmokhtari said the tactics were intended to weaken the Liberals and keep them out of parliament, but she admitted she has no concrete evidence.
The Social Democrats rejected the accusations, and AIP Media CEO Daniel Färm also denied that the company sent people to masquerade as voters or sabotage campaign meetings. The dispute emerges as the Liberals strive to clear the four‑percent threshold needed for parliamentary representation, while the broader election campaign has become increasingly contentious.
