Minister Sandra Paulémon tours Grand North to assess electoral preparations

Sandra Paulémon, Haiti’s Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, is conducting a tour of the Grand North region from September 3 to 7, 2026. The mission, directed by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, aims to strengthen the ministry’s decentralized structures and assess the needs of departmental directions in the Nord-Est, Nord, Nord-Ouest, and Artibonite departments.

During her visit to the Departmental Electoral Office (BED) of the North on September 4, Paulémon discussed electoral preparations for upcoming elections. The meeting focused on the operational status of the office and the specific challenges faced by electoral officials. The minister emphasized the necessity of functional departmental offices to ensure a credible electoral process and the democratic renewal of political personnel.

The delegation includes several high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE), such as Director General Guy Roméro Latry. The tour includes departmental tables designed to facilitate dialogue with local actors regarding regional development priorities and to improve coordination between the central office and departmental branches.
