Minister Schinas meets Greek fishermen in Nea Michaniona

Margaritis Schinas, the Minister of Rural Development and Food, met with representatives of the Panhellenic Coordinating Body of Fishermen in Nea Michaniona. The meeting addressed recent industrial strikes and the ongoing energy crisis affecting the sector.

Discussions focused on government measures to mitigate rising fuel costs, including two announced commitments for fuel price subsidies. Both parties agreed that while initial pressures regarding fuel prices have been addressed, the situation will be closely monitored to determine if further measures are required.

Minister Schinas emphasized the priority of ensuring the timely distribution of funds to all categories of fishermen. He proposed a follow-up meeting with the General Secretary of the Ministry, Spyros Protopsaltis, to finalize the distribution plan.
