Global housing initiatives expand through sustainable finance and social programs

Various regional and international initiatives are addressing housing needs through diverse financial and social programs.

In Argentina, Minister Silvina Batakis visited the Cristal Avellaneda cooperative, which produces tableware included in new provincial housing projects to support local economies and recovered factories. Meanwhile, the ProHaS program is facilitating accessible land plots with services and formal titles for families in regions like Alta Gracia and Malvinas Argentinas.

In Peru, BanBif has placed US$ 62 million in sustainable mortgage credits, incentivizing eco-efficient homes with LEED or EDGE certifications. In Guatemala, Banco Industrial hosted its tenth 'Fiesta de la Vivienda,' connecting families with over 100 housing projects and specialized financing.

On a broader scale, the European Investment Bank (EIB) announced it is doubling its annual housing financing to €6 billion, aiming to support the construction of one million homes in Europe by 2030. This aligns with new European efforts to legislate affordable housing through the European Affordable Housing Act.

In Venezuela, the Iaveb institute is implementing the 'Plan Cayapa' to provide construction materials and roof replacements for vulnerable families, while in Mexico, the state of Querétaro is distributing prefabricated rooms to improve living conditions for families in poverty.
