Faiz Sucuoğlu, the Minister of Public Works and Transport, has announced several initiatives aimed at improving transportation infrastructure, including lighting upgrades for Girne and Gazimağusa ports. Sucuoğlu stated that Girne Port is scheduled to be fully illuminated by Thursday through the installation of approximately 36 to 38 LED lighting poles. Additionally, the Minister plans to implement smart signaling systems at four or five locations in Nicosia to alleviate traffic congestion.

Addressing concerns regarding traffic safety and revenue, Sucuoğlu confirmed that a Court of Accounts report revealed serious deficiencies in AI-supported traffic cameras, resulting in significant state losses. He noted that while some cameras are functional, others are inactive.

Other planned improvements include expanding free parking at Ercan Airport from 15 to 30 minutes, addressing cargo transportation issues, and beginning fiber optic infrastructure projects within the next month to 1.5 months. The Minister also highlighted the need for renovations in passenger waiting areas and facilities at the ports.
