Minister Sucuoğlu announces progress on Girne Mountain Road renovation

Faiz Sucuoğlu, the Minister of Public Works and Transportation, announced that renovation work on the Değirmenlik-Çatalköy Road, commonly known as the Girne Mountain Road, is nearing completion. The project involves widening and asphalt work in mountainous sections to improve transportation safety and tourism connectivity between the country's interior and the Girne coastline.

Minister Sucuoğlu noted that the road, previously referred to as a ‘death road’ due to frequent traffic accidents, is being transformed into a safe and comfortable route. The project is being carried out as part of the TRNC Highway Master Plan with contributions from the Republic of Turkey. If no setbacks occur, the road is expected to be operational within the next few months.

Additionally, Sucuoğlu inspected the Çatalköy-Girne Road and issued instructions to complete a remaining two-kilometer section to improve access to local businesses along the route.
