Minister Urso meets Tuscan craft delegations in Florence

Italian Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, met with representatives from the Stile Orafo Fiorentino and Cardato Riciclato Pratese in Florence to discuss the protection of artisanal excellence.

Both Tuscan production districts have applied for recognition under the new European system for Geographical Indications (GI) for artisanal and industrial products. The goal is to safeguard the connection between specific manufacturing techniques, local expertise, and their territories of origin. Stile Orafo Fiorentino focuses on traditional goldsmithing techniques such as engraving and chasing, while Cardato Riciclato Pratese specializes in the textile tradition of Prato, emphasizing fiber recovery and material reuse.

Separately, the Confartigianato Valdarno Zone Committee has called for a structured working group with local institutions. The committee aims to address critical regional challenges, including the crisis in the fashion sector, infrastructure needs, youth training, security, and support for local innovation and production.
