Minister Yusuf Tekin visits Hakkâri and Şemdinli to discuss education reforms

Turkish National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin conducted visits to Hakkâri, Şemdinli, and Yüksekova to address regional educational needs and discuss national curriculum reforms. During his visit to Şemdinli, Tekin met with students, teachers, and local officials, stating that the construction or improvement of two to three schools in the district would be considered for the 2027 investment program.

Addressing the media in Yüksekova, Tekin discussed the ‘Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Modeli’ (Century of Türkiye Education Model) implemented at the start of 2024. He noted that the curriculum aims to balance academic success with national and spiritual values to foster social unity. Tekin also addressed recent challenges, mentioning a fatal knife attack on a student in Istanbul.

Furthermore, the Minister highlighted Turkey's progress in international education assessments, noting that according to OECD evaluations discussed at a meeting in Bratislava, Turkey has significantly improved its global standing in education rankings compared to 2003.
