Minister's vehicle fined for driving the wrong way in Dhaka

Traffic police in Dhaka have filed two cases and imposed a total fine of 6,000 BDT against the vehicle of Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat for reckless driving in the wrong direction. The incident occurred on Thursday morning around 9:08 AM on Circuit House Road while the vehicle was heading toward the Secretariat.

According to senior traffic officials, the Range Rover (registration number Dhaka Metro-Gha-18-2125) was intercepted by police for violating traffic laws. The driver, Arif Hossain, faces charges for reckless driving. Officials noted that the incident was unprecedented, as it marks the first time a minister's vehicle has faced legal action for driving against traffic, despite similar occurrences being reported in the media previously.

At the time of the violation, the Prime Minister's motorcade was traveling on an adjacent road toward the Secretariat, adhering to traffic signals. Police officials stated that this enforcement serves as a significant message to top government officials regarding compliance with traffic regulations.
