Ministry of Agriculture identifies irregular animal feed factory in Santa Catarina

The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) identified an irregular animal feed factory in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, during an inspection triggered by a complaint. The facility was producing and selling animal feed products without the required federal registration.

Inspectors found significant hygiene and operational failures, including the accumulation of dust and residue on equipment, the presence of insects and spider webs, and inadequate pest control. Animals were also observed circulating within storage areas. Additionally, the facility lacked proper traceability mechanisms for identifying product batches and raw material origins, which could hinder sanitary control measures or product recalls.

Due to these irregularities, which pose risks to product quality and safety through potential microorganism contamination, the Ministry has implemented administrative measures in accordance with manufacturing and commercialization legislation.
