Ministry of Culture inaugurates Nasirun tribute exhibition in Jakarta

The Indonesian Ministry of Culture has inaugurated an art exhibition titled ‘Nasirun: Bersimpuh di Kaki Para Guru’ at the National Gallery of Indonesia in Central Jakarta. The exhibition serves as a tribute to the late artist Nasirun and fulfills a personal wish of the maestro to display his works alongside those of his mentors.

Minister of Culture Fadli Zon described Nasirun as a dedicated artist who maintained deep respect for his predecessors. Zon noted that Nasirun even established a museum near his home in Yogyakarta to collect and preserve the works of the masters who influenced him. The exhibition highlights Nasirun’s ability to integrate tradition, spirituality, daily reality, and modernity into his artistic expressions.

Beyond his technical achievements, Nasirun was recognized for his commitment to artistic regeneration. In 2025, he participated as an instructor in the ‘Belajar Bersama Maestro’ program organized by the Ministry of Culture.
