Ministry of Culture prepares Este Festival in Miches

The Dominican Republic Ministry of Culture is finalizing preparations for the first edition of ‘Este Festival,’ scheduled to take place from August 28 to 30 in Miches, El Seibo province. The event aims to showcase the artistic, cultural, gastronomic, and traditional expressions of the eastern region to promote local talent and community integration.

During a meeting with artisans and media representatives, Minister of Culture Roberto Ángel Salcedo announced that artisan Genaro Reyes, known as ‘Cayuco,’ will be appointed as an honorary advisor on cultural industry policies. This designation, issued via a ministerial resolution, intends to utilize Reyes’s expertise to strengthen national craft fairs and consolidate the artisan sector. The festival is dedicated to Reyes in recognition of his contributions.
