Ministry of Culture to host BRICS Theatre Festival 2026 in New Delhi
The Indian Ministry of Culture will host the BRICS Theatre Festival 2026 in New Delhi from October 12 to 14. Held under India’s BRICS Presidency, the three-day event is themed ‘Shared Stories, Shared Futures’.
The festival aims to foster people-to-people connections and cultural cooperation among nine BRICS member and partner countries, including India, Russia, South Africa, Iran, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam. It will bring together over 100 theatre practitioners, scholars, and students.
Following the Bhopal Declaration, which emphasized strengthening networks among artists, the festival will feature diverse theatrical traditions and contemporary expressions. India will showcase two productions, while Russia will be represented by two theatre groups. The event will be inaugurated at the National School of Drama, with performances scheduled at various prominent venues in New Delhi.
