Ministry of Education announces 2027 Malaysian school calendar
The Ministry of Education (KPM) has announced the 2027 academic calendar for national and government-aided schools. The school session is scheduled to begin on January 4, 2027.
For Group A states, which include Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, the session will run from January 4 to December 2, 2027. For Group B states—comprising Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Pulau Pinang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya—the session will run from January 4 to December 3, 2027.
The Ministry has also coordinated holiday dates for various festivals, including Hari Raya Puasa, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Hari Raya Korban, Pesta Kaamatan, Gawai Dayak, Wesak Day, and Christmas. Schools are required to adhere to additional holidays provided by the Ministry for major celebrations such as Hari Raya Puasa, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Korban, Wesak Day, and Deepavali, which do not need to be replaced.
Additionally, the opening date for the 2028 school session has been set for January 3, 2028, for both Group A and Group B. This standardization aims to ensure nationwide alignment and facilitate more effective school administration and teaching activities.
