Ministry of Education discusses Youth and Adult Education on PodMEC

The Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) released a new episode of its PodMEC Especialistas videocast focusing on Youth and Adult Education (EJA). The program, hosted by Zara Figueiredo, secretary of Continuing Education, Literacy of Youth and Adults, Diversity and Inclusion, explores the short, medium, and long-term impacts of this educational modality on students.

Participants in the discussion included Professor Daniel Vazquez from the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp) and consultant Fabiana de Felício. Key topics addressed include the National Pact for the Overcoming of Illiteracy and Qualification of EJA (Pacto EJA), social mobility, the specificities of teaching diverse age groups, and the role of technology in social inclusion.

EJA is designed for individuals aged 15 and older who have not completed elementary school, or those aged 18 and older who have not completed high school. The program aims to provide pedagogical practices that adapt content to the daily lives and varying literacy levels of students ranging from young adults to the elderly.
