Ministry of Education processes 45,953 school grant applications

The Ministry of Education has completed the initial review of 45,953 applications for the 2026 School Supplies and Book Grant. The Ministry is currently conducting final verification checks to ensure eligibility and prioritize the most vulnerable applicants.

Final verification for approximately 10,000 applications is expected to be finished by August 28, 2026, with the remaining checks completed by September 2, 2026. Payments to successful applicants are scheduled to begin on September 2, 2026.

The 2026 programme includes students from 668 educational institutions, including government and government-assisted primary and secondary schools, special education institutions, and SERVOL Junior Life Centres. Priority for the grant will be given to unemployed applicants, low-income households, families with multiple dependents, applicants with children with special needs, and those receiving government assistance.
