Ministry of Education to build zonal sports complexes
The Ministry of Education (KPM) plans to construct at least one complete sports field complex in every zone to ensure students in densely populated urban areas are not excluded from sports and co-curricular activities.
Director-General of Education, Datuk Dr. Mohd Azam Ahmad, stated that this approach addresses land constraints in urban schools, where the need for new buildings often results in the loss of existing field space. By establishing zonal sports complexes, students from several nearby schools can share the facilities to develop their athletic potential.
Additionally, the Ministry intends to expand the provision of open halls in schools facing space limitations. These halls will serve as alternative venues for various sports, games, and co-curricular activities when full-sized fields are unavailable.
