Ministry of Energy prioritizes Aras water transfer project
The Iranian Ministry of Energy has identified the Aras water transfer project as a strategic priority for the northwest region to enhance water security and drinking water stability. During an administrative council meeting in Shabestar, Hashem Amini, CEO of the National Water and Wastewater Engineering Company, highlighted the project's role in meeting future regional needs.
Significant investments are being directed toward local infrastructure. Projects valued at 290 billion tomans have been commissioned, with additional projects worth 150 billion rials currently underway. Furthermore, 50 billion tomans have been allocated to complete a 5,000-cubic-meter reservoir for the National Housing Project, which is expected to be operational by the end of the year.
Other priority initiatives include the completion of the Sofian sewage project and the utilization of the Tasuj water storage reservoir. Officials emphasized that water resource management must be driven by scientific knowledge and continuous planning to ensure sustainable services for the population.
