Turkey Ministry announces social media rules and Hatay social services

Turkey's Ministry of Family and Social Services has announced several major initiatives. Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş detailed a new social media regulation set to take effect on November 1, 2026. The regulation aims to protect children under 18 by implementing mandatory age verification via the e-Devlet system. While users under 15 will face stricter controls, those aged 15 to 18 will be subject to new restrictions designed to mitigate screen addiction. Social media platforms have been granted until March 31, 2027, to comply with these new standards.

In Hatay, the Ministry has inaugurated seven new social service buildings as part of ongoing post-earthquake reconstruction efforts. Minister Göktaş noted that the Ministry has provided 55 billion lira in investments and support to the region over the last 25 years. Additionally, 1,759 households in Hatay will receive moving and rent assistance.

Furthermore, a new Nefes Merkezi project has been launched in Ankara. This facility provides free temporary care for disabled individuals, allowing their primary caregivers to attend to personal needs, health issues, or emergencies without interruption.
