Ministry of Forestry detects 73 hotspots in South Kalimantan

The Indonesian Ministry of Forestry has detected 73 hotspots in South Kalimantan through the Forest and Land Fire Control Information System (SIPONGI). Of these detected points, 14 are located within areas under Forest Utilization Business Licensing (PBPH).

Due to the increased risk of forest and land fires during the dry season, the government is urging PBPH holders to conduct immediate field verifications of these hotspots to prevent widespread fires. This early detection initiative aligns with the policy of Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni, which emphasizes data-based forest protection and multi-stakeholder collaboration. The Sustainable Forest Management Agency (BPHL) Region XI Banjarbaru is conducting regular monitoring to support these rapid response efforts.
