Ministry of Health signs R$ 8.9 million contract with Hospital São Francisco
The Brazilian Ministry of Health has formalized an R$ 8.9 million contract with Hospital São Francisco in Belo Horizonte to expand specialized procedures and elective surgeries for patients under the Unified Health System (SUS). This initiative is part of the ‘Agora Tem Especialistas’ program, established by Law No. 15.233/2025, which aims to reduce waiting times for consultations, exams, and specialized procedures.
The agreement covers 1,476 procedures over one year in fields including cardiology, orthopedics, general surgery, gynecology, and oncology. Under the program's rules, the specialized services provided to SUS patients will be converted into financial credits to offset federal taxes. Hospital São Francisco is also undergoing structural expansions, including a new outpatient clinic, a surgical block with four rooms, and 70 new beds expected to be operational this year.
