Ministry of Home Affairs officials arrested for alleged FCRA bribery
The Delhi Police Special Cell, in coordination with central agencies, arrested two officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in New Delhi on September 28, 2026. The individuals, identified as a senior accountant and an accountant, are accused of seeking bribes from an association to facilitate its registration and renewal under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA).
One official is currently posted in the MHA’s Foreigners Division, while the other is stationed at a Pay and Accounts Office after previously serving in the Foreigners Division. The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that preliminary questioning suggests the officials were in contact with certain associations regarding their FCRA status.
The MHA has reiterated its ‘zero-tolerance’ policy toward corruption and confirmed that further investigations and departmental actions are underway. The ministry emphasized that all FCRA-related services are provided exclusively online through the official portal and that no intermediaries or agents are authorized to facilitate these services.
