Ministry of Home Affairs urges regional governments to stabilize commodity prices

Tomsi Tohir, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, has instructed regional governments to maintain the stability of reference prices amid rising Price Development Index (IPH) levels for several commodities. Key items of concern include rice, cooking oil, and chili.

During an inflation control coordination meeting in Jakarta, Tohir emphasized that local authorities must use data to ensure prices remain within the established Selling Reference Price and Buying Reference Price (HAP) limits. He urged regional officials to conduct direct field inspections in markets to implement targeted control measures.

Tohir specifically highlighted rice price increases occurring across 132 regencies and cities. He noted that maintaining prices within the HAP framework is a measure of regional government responsibility and success, as failure to do so directly impacts the public.
