Ministry of Information and Broadcasting holds national conference on creative economy

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) hosted a National Conference of Information and Public Relations Secretaries from various States and Union Territories at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Chaired by MIB Secretary Chanchal Kumar, the meeting focused on strengthening coordination between the Centre and States to improve public communication systems and the evolving media landscape.

A primary objective of the conference was to unlock India’s creative economy, which encompasses culture, creativity, and commerce. Secretary Kumar emphasized that leveraging regional talent and cultural strengths is essential for generating employment and enhancing India’s global influence. He noted that there is no single model for growth, as each State and Union Territory possesses unique institutional capabilities.

Key discussion points included enhancing the partnership between the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and state-level departments, as well as utilizing the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) for capacity building. The conference also addressed national platforms such as WAVES 2027, WAVES Bazaar, and WaveX, which aim to provide creators and start-ups with improved access to technology, investors, and global markets.
