Ministry of Justice investigates Telegram group for sports betting manipulation

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security is investigating a Telegram group with over 31,000 members suspected of involvement in sports betting manipulation. The group has reportedly operated for more than two years, selling access to allegedly privileged information about matches through an automated system, with costs cited at R$ 190.

Administrators allegedly promise ‘100% confirmed games’ and claim to possess ‘information from inside the locker room.’ To avoid detection by betting houses, the group instructs participants to fractionate bets exceeding R$ 10,000 into smaller amounts. The investigation is currently working to identify the individuals responsible for the channel, the recipients of the payments, and whether there is any actual contact with athletes or team officials.
