Ministry of Law defends cancellation of PLK legal status

The Indonesian Ministry of Law (Kemenkum) has reaffirmed its decision to cancel the legal entity status of Perkumpulan Lyceum Kristen (PLK). This follows an appeal filed by PLK to the High Administrative Court of State (PTTUN) regarding a previous first-instance ruling.

Fitra Kadarina, head of the Advocacy Team for the Directorate of Business, stated that the Directorate General of AHU submitted a counter-memorandum of appeal in July 2026. The government maintains that the cancellation is necessary and hopes the judges will uphold the original decision.

Kemenkum noted that the cancellation of PLK's legal status also serves to strengthen the legal standing of SMAN 1 Bandung in West Java as a legitimate state asset. Furthermore, officials argued that because the legal entity status has been revoked, PLK's legal standing to file lawsuits is no longer valid. Records indicate that the Ministry has revoked PLK's legal status three times since 1984.
