Ministry of Law officials coordinate to prevent civil dispute criminalization

The South Sumatra Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, in collaboration with the Directorate General of Legal Administrative Affairs, is working to align perspectives on the implementation of the new Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP). The primary goal is to prevent the potential criminalization of civil disputes following the enactment of the new national criminal law regulations.

Officials emphasized that the implementation of the new KUHP will prioritize the principle of equitable legality, the limitation of criminalization, and the optimization of non-criminal resolutions through restorative justice mechanisms. This coordination aims to establish clear boundaries between contractual breaches in civil matters and pure criminal offenses to ensure legal certainty and protect the legal rights of the public.
