Ministry of Manpower urges workers to review employment agreements
The Indonesian Ministry of Manpower has advised workers to thoroughly review their rights, obligations, and the specific contents of employment agreements before signing them. Indah Anggoro Putri, Director General of Industrial Relations and Labor Social Security, emphasized that understanding these terms is essential for establishing a clear basis for the relationship between employees and employers.
Key elements workers should examine include wage provisions, working hours, rest periods, and annual leave eligibility. Additionally, the Ministry highlighted the importance of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) standards, noting that companies are obligated to provide a safe environment to protect workers from accidents and occupational diseases.
Proper understanding of these contracts ensures that both rights and responsibilities are fulfilled in accordance with legal regulations. This includes ensuring participation in social security programs such as BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and BPJS Kesehatan.
