Ministry of Mining updates status of El Alto exploratory project
The Ministry of Mining has released an update regarding the current status of the environmental impact assessment for the ‘El Alto’ exploratory project, managed by Litios del Norte S.A. The project is currently in an initial exploration phase, involving only preliminary surface tasks and geological drilling to identify mineral presence. It has not reached the production or exploitation stages.
Following an updated environmental impact report submitted in June, the documentation was distributed to various state agencies for analysis, including the Secretariat of the Environment, the Directorate of Hydrology, and the Directorate of Anthropology. In late September, technical teams and municipal authorities conducted an on-site inspection to verify terrain conditions.
A period of early public participation was implemented between September 14 and October 9 to allow citizens to review technical reports.
