Ministry of MSME holds seminar at IIT Madras on digital commerce
The Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises organized a national seminar at IIT Madras to enhance digital commerce adoption and export readiness for MSMEs. The event was held by the MSME Development & Facilitation Office, Chennai, in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Cell of IIT Madras.
Participants included entrepreneurs, policymakers, financial institutions, and digital commerce experts. Discussions focused on leveraging technology, innovation, and market linkages to help small businesses overcome geographical barriers and reach international customers. Experts from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), EXIM Bank, and ECGC provided guidance on export procedures, trade finance, risk mitigation, and international payments.
Praveen Yadav, Additional Chief Secretary of the MSME Department in Tamil Nadu, emphasized the need for stronger Centre-State convergence to create an ecosystem that boosts global competitiveness. Additionally, Prof. Manu Santhanam of IIT Madras highlighted the importance of academia-industry collaboration, while Hansraj Verma of the Council of State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation of India stressed that quality and digitalization are essential for expanding market reach.
