Ministry of Social Affairs sanctions employees for online gambling
Indonesia's Ministry of Social Affairs has imposed disciplinary sanctions on hundreds of employees following investigations into involvement in online gambling. The action follows data from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) identifying over 1,900 employees at the central and regional levels suspected of participating in online gambling transactions.
Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf announced that the sanctions vary in severity based on the intensity of the involvement, the amount of money used, and whether the activity occurred during working hours. Of the identified individuals, 620 employees (32.63 percent) were found to have committed serious disciplinary violations, 561 (29.53 percent) committed moderate violations, and 719 (37.84 percent) committed light violations.
For Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK), serious sanctions include honorable termination of employment. For Civil Servants (PNS), serious penalties include demotion, being moved to an executor position for 12 months, or honorable dismissal. Moderate penalties for PNS include the postponement of periodic salary increases or promotions for one year, while light penalties consist of oral or written reprimands.
