Minkah Fitzpatrick ends New York Jets interception drought
Minkah Fitzpatrick ended the New York Jets’ NFL-record interception drought during a game against the Chicago Bears. Fitzpatrick, who returned to the lineup after a groin injury, intercepted a pass from Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent in the second quarter.
The interception marked the first for the Jets in 636 pass attempts, spanning 83 regulation quarters. This streak followed a historic season in which the Jets became the first team in NFL history to go an entire season without an interception since official charting began in 1933.
Prior to the game, the Bears had announced several inactive players, including quarterback Caleb Williams. The Jets' defensive unit had been under scrutiny for a 20-game drought dating back to the end of the 2024 season.
