Minna no Code wins Kids Design Award for generative AI education tool
The Kids Design Council has announced the 286 winners of the 20th Kids Design Award. Among the recipients is Minna no Code, which won in the Safety and Security Improvement category for its ‘Minna de Generative AI Course’.
This educational service is designed for classroom use, allowing students to experience generative AI under teacher supervision to understand its characteristics, including both benefits and drawbacks. The platform utilizes Microsoft Azure OpenAI API to ensure that dialogue content is not used for AI training, and it includes features such as access time limits, content filters to detect inappropriate expressions, and teacher monitoring capabilities. As of March 2025, the service has been used by approximately 137,021 people.
The 20th awards cycle saw 458 entries across several categories, including the newly established Children's Participation category. The winners reflect modern social trends, such as the use of AI technology, inclusive design for children with disabilities, and support for diverse family structures. The announcement of top honors, including the Prime Minister's Award, is scheduled for September 16, with an official ceremony to be held on October 2 at Toranomon Hills Forum.
