Minneapolis shooting leaves three dead at Shoreline Plaza Apartments
A shooting at the Shoreline Plaza Apartments in downtown Minneapolis left three people dead and six others injured on Wednesday. The incident began during a child custody exchange outside the building, where the suspect, identified as 35-year-old resident Carlton Neal Johnson II, shot a woman in the leg before entering the complex.
Once inside, Johnson shot two employees and then proceeded to the ninth floor, where he fatally shot residents Muse Abdi Afrah, 61, and Dale Henry Spry, 63. The confrontation ended when Johnson died in an exchange of gunfire with responding police officers. Two officers were wounded during the incident but are expected to recover.
Investigations revealed that Johnson had a history of criminal behavior, including previous incidents of brandishing weapons and threats against neighbors. Authorities noted that he was in the process of being evicted from the building. Management at Shoreline Plaza has since issued a letter to residents regarding security and support following the tragedy.
