Minnesota defeats Michigan 20-14 to reclaim Little Brown Jug
The Minnesota Golden Gophers defeated the Michigan Wolverines 20-14 in a Big Ten matchup, reclaiming the Little Brown Jug trophy. This victory marks Minnesota’s first home win in the rivalry series since 1977 and their first win over Michigan since 2014.
Despite Michigan holding a 14-7 halftime lead following a 79-yard interception return touchdown by Nathaniel Staehling, Minnesota’s defense dominated the second half. The Gophers' defense pressured Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood, recording three sacks and forcing key turnovers. In the fourth quarter, Drake Lindsey connected with Darius Taylor for a go-ahead touchdown pass to secure the win.
For Michigan, the loss marks a difficult stretch under head coach Kyle Whittingham, as the team fell to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The performance has intensified scrutiny regarding quarterback Bryce Underwood, who completed 10 of 21 passes for 101 yards and threw two interceptions.
