Minnesota criminal cases involve sex offender and trafficking convictions

In Rochester, Minnesota, 46-year-old Marvin Douglas Fear has been sentenced to 51 months in prison following a police undercover sting operation. Fear entered Alford pleas for charges including soliciting a child through electronic communication and failing to register as a predatory offender. The investigation involved an undercover officer using a social media profile of a fictitious juvenile. A subsequent search of Fear's residence in Brainerd uncovered 23 images of child sexual abuse material.

In St. Cloud, Devante Johnson pleaded guilty to receiving profits from prostitution and first-degree drug sales. Investigations revealed that Johnson trafficked a woman from 2021 through 2024, profiting from her prostitution and the sale of fentanyl pills. The victim reported providing Johnson with approximately $50,000 from her earnings and an estimated $200,000 from various sales and Social Security benefits. Johnson is scheduled to be sentenced in January.
