Minnesota federal judges face judicial misconduct complaints

The Article III Project has filed formal judicial misconduct complaints against two federal judges in Minnesota, Patrick Schiltz and John Tunheim. The complaints follow reports in the New York Times regarding the judges' involvement in coordinating decisions related to immigration enforcement.

Founder Mike Davis is calling on the Eighth Circuit Judicial Council to investigate the judges and remove them from future immigration-related cases. The complaint alleges that the judges' statements in media interviews call into question their impartiality toward the administration. The filing argues that the judges' actions may violate Canon 2A of the Code of Conduct for United States Judges, which requires judges to act in a manner that promotes public confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary.
