Minnesota GOP offers reward after stolen campaign sign

The Republican Party of Minnesota is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect who allegedly stole a sign from its booth at the Minnesota State Fair. The sign promoted a policy proposal by Republican gubernatorial candidate Lisa Demuth to cap annual car tab fees at $99 or less.

Security footage released by the party shows a man tampering with the sign around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, September 4. GOP officials stated that booth security had observed the individual acting suspiciously earlier that afternoon and alerted State Fair police. Although the man was directed to leave the area, he reportedly returned later that evening.

A police report has been filed with the Minnesota State Fair Police Department. GOP Chairman Alex Plechash commented on the incident, noting the popularity of Demuth’s proposal.
