The Minnesota Golden Gophers defeated the Washington Huskies 27-24 in their Big Ten Conference opener at Husky Stadium in Seattle. Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey led the offense, throwing three touchdown passes in the first half to three different receivers, including Quayd Hendryx and Jalen Smith.

Minnesota's defense played a critical role, recording seven sacks and limiting Washington to only 40 rushing yards. Linebacker Maverick Baranowski recorded an interception that set up a Minnesota score early in the game. TJ Thomas contributed 78 rushing yards for the Gophers.

Washington quarterback Demond Williams Jr. finished with 239 passing yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Despite a late 13-yard rushing touchdown by Williams with under two minutes remaining, the Huskies were unable to overcome the deficit after Minnesota recovered an onside kick. The victory marks Minnesota's first road win since the 2024 season.
